Making a simple short and shirt look elegant

First, I've started this thread at Candymag's Teentalk Forum. It's about giving girls (and boys) some fashion emergency fixes. And I like to share it here in my blog.
So here's her question

So answering this question,honestly, was quite hard because I'm not sure what is the color or the fabric or if it's made of jeans. So here's my answer to her question.

"Hey, about that if you're referring to the shorts in a light blue color (i'm not pretty sure on how they called that type of wash on the jeans fabric) and shirt as in simple plain colored shirt. You can never go wrong with adding strands of pearls as your necklace and wearing a pair pearl earrings. Wear shoes that are solid in color, if you're really going to the elegant look . Then a simple head band to complete the look. You can also put on a blazer for added 'wow' effect."

For those who the same sentiments about looking elegant, here's my point of view. Keep the look simple and tasteful. In this example, we all know we can't easily pull of an elegant look for jean shorts because it looks to casual or if you use it in a wrong way, it'll look sloppy or slutty or just plain ordinary. But putting a minimal amount of accessories and blazer for a cover up. It changes the whole look.  But also partner it with proper manners and decorum.

My Shoe Dreams

As I said it before at my facebook account that if God will give me a chance to pursue my designing dreams, I'll take on creating shoes for all types of women. And I guess my 'voice' was heard. My dad is an OFW and i guess he doesn't like to work abroad anymore and he wants to put up a small business then I proposed my mom and I will venture into a fashion business. Mom will be in charge of the accessories and I for the shoes. But I told my father that I like to take shoe design classes and/or workshops because I still lack the knowledge on how shoes are being made. But back from creating shoes for all type of women that came from  my experience. I do feel that the designs for big sized women (yes, I do have a big feet) are not stylish enough and we ended up buying for ok-shoes.OK-shoes means average or just to wear something. And sometimes I feel degraded because I don't feel cute nor confident on the shoes I bought before. So that's my point of view.

Anyhoo, do you guys know any school that offers shoe design courses which will be offered this coming semester. I'm planning to squeezed it into my academic schedule because I think I'll have a lot of free time , aside from studying and preparing for my shifting tests and possible shifting-related interviews at school.

Miley Cyrus new songs is on repeat at my playlist since this morning. And now, I'm having a last song syndrome. I've been humming the melody while I was on an ukay-ukay hunt for the whole day :)). So here's the official video of the music.


I actually like the song. It reminds me of the good ol' days of Britney Spears. But I do hope Miley won't end up like her. With the video, she has ,for me, finally detached from her Hannah Montana image because the video is kind of sexy. Yahoo reports that her costume costs around 25 THOUSAND DOLLARS. that's huge but i could have a lot of stuff from it>.<

Anyhoo ,I've mentioned that, finally, I just got home from an Ukay-ukay escapades. It was tiring because 1) the heat from the sun is reallyt HOT, 2) medyo stenchy :)) but ive enjoyed it.
here are some of them. Ill not post the liz claiborne jacket that ive managed to find. haha i think it's new because there's still a tag.

Actually, I've fought for this one . My mom doesnt like it at first she thinks something is wrong. But she ended up liking it anyway.

I love this dress, i like the print and the neckline suits me well.

Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art

Since yesterday morning, I've been looking and checking the pictures from the Met Gala and I've been looking into the gowns and dresses by the attendees. Some looks are perfect, some are good, some outfits are epic failure. But the following people on their best looks are my favorites :D

I really like J.Lo's gown. It looks so regal and elegant. This gown is designed by Zuhair Muhrad.

This Halston frock for SJP looks good on her. I know that this kind of dress can only rock by some people and SJP is one of them.

Jessica Zhor's look is so dramatic. The mermaid gown suits her very well.

Clair Danes and ,her hubby, Hugh Dancy are both in Burberry. Damn, the gown is lovely. I'm imagining myself wearing that gown. It's really pretty.

Chanel Iman in Michael Kors' Jumpsuit. She really rocked that jumpsuit. Unlike , Tina Fey's jumpsuit look which looks casual for the Met.

Anne Hathaway in a Valentino gown. This is my fave for the event. I love old hollywood look, It's so simple and timeless.

I also love this dress on Nicole Richie. She looks tall and regal. The frock is designed by Marc Jacobs.

Dress, Dress, Dresses!!

Since last Saturday, I've been going to malls and buying stuff , two of which are for the Philippine Fashion Week. And for me to celebrate my birthday and to resist the heat outside, but I was wrong I got nauseous last Saturday due to heat and people were in a hurry to buy this and that. So now, I'm totally broke again.bwaahaha. Then yesterday, I was not supposed to buy anything because I just like to eat ice cream and stroll around the mall but then I saw this cute white dress screaming to me. I love wearing dresses because when I was little my mom doesn't want me to wear those because of my thighs and my big butt. But it didn't hinder me to grow up wishing for a dress, and now i'm having a lot of them and still counting, even if my mom frowns about it ,A LOT. She makes fun of my legs T_T, sorry I got them from my dad. But i guess that's what makes me unique. As Tyra said, embrace your body(weakness) and turn it into your strength. In less than a month, school is back. Hello for a term that I don't have any major subjects because I'm shifting, I decided for a single degree (BS Commerce major in Marketing Management or Business Management) but I still have to take a test to be qualified to shift, so good luck to me. I want to finish my college studies already so I can work and save up for my doctorate or another undergrad course.

So that's the dress that's been screaming to me. I love the fact that I can also use to wear from the back view. It's like a 2 in 1 dress. Can't wait to wear it.

Detailed back design

This is one of the dresses that I'm going to wear for the Philippine Fashion Week. I've bought stuff in advance because when the Freshmen Orientation will start I don't have any time to shop because my friend told me I'll be helping them in the welcoming stuff for the political party I'm in. The dress is simple and it's backless.:) I went for simple because I'm planning to use one of my creations.(Did I mention that I make accessories?)

This headpiece really caught my eye and I like to use it for the PFW as well or for photoshoots. I like to create a headpiece like this. I think it's kind of easy to make one.Let's see.

Shoes, not really that glam but I like nude sandals. It makes my legs look thinner and it makes me look tall too.:)

Tomorrow, will be going on a thrift shopping with my mom. It's been 6 months since I've been into a thrift shop. It's like finding for a treasure. Gawd, I'm excited. I hope t find another set of dresses and I'm thinking for looking for interesting stuff like for jackets and vests. If you guys know any good thrift shop or ukay-ukay stores please please tell me T_T

Legally Blonde is coming here in Manila in June

The movie is one of my favorite movies of all time. Elle is an empowered female ,for me. She shows to the world that women are strong and never to stop fighting for what they want and what they need. She maybe unbelievable at first because of her sassy-ness and kind of silly approach at Harvard , she proved to us that we shouldn't judge a person by her physical aesthetics. Anyhoo, I'm thrilled that Atlatis production will offer us this theatrical play and Nikki Gil is going to play as Elle. She's one of the talented Pinoy artist in the cuntry. I'm starting to save money for this and I'll treat my mom to this because one of the show dates fall under her birthday.:D
